Lapse of concentration kills lives

Posted by trainyourmind on October 26, 2007

Yesterday, the workmen who were working (a bit of an surprise) on my house left the van outside and the handbrake not correctly on.

The van rolled down the hill, hit a garage and moved an entire brick wall.  It took 9 hours to remove the van due to structural safety issues.

In a seperate incident a car rolled down the driveway and killed a child, apparently one of the unsupervised children let the handbrake off (usually quite difficult to do, or impossible to do in Lexus/Mercedes car as it is a pedal brake).

Engage your handbrake, and your brain I think is the moral of the story.  And put your car in gear if it isn’t an Automatic transmission model.

In a seperate incident, 2 children were swept out to sea and the parents heroically went after them…only to drown and the children were swept back on shore.  Tragic, but you should be aware that this isn’t an uncommon thing where dogs get swept out to sea, the owners goes after them and drowns, the dog is swept back on shore.

Tragic article here
